Q. I don't see the Polartec® style that I'm looking for, when will it be available?
A. We are limited in the styles available from Polartec®. From time to time we will have special colors and styles, but don't worry, everything on the website is updated right away!

Q. What is Limited Stock versus Regular Stock?
A. Regular Stock colors are ones we do our very best to keep in stock all the time. We work with Mill Direct Textiles to keep these as regularly available as possible! Limited Stock (indicated with an "L" on the swatch) are colors or styles that we only get a certain quantity of and once they're gone, we don't know when they will be back, so order as much as you need for your project/season.

Q. I want full rolls (more than 20 yards), where can I buy this?

Q. When will my order ship?
A. Most orders that fall into our typical size (10 yards or less per style/color), will usually ship within 3 business days. Longer lengths can take up to a week if we don't have the inventory on hand. If there is any delay that exceeds these time frames, we will contact you right away. If you have an order that needs immediate attention, please make a comment in the "Order Comments" box as you check out and we will do our best to make accommodations. Remember, if you're looking for lengths that are full rolls (more than 20 yards), visit www.milldirecttextiles.com.

Q. I need my order to ship out right away! Can it be moved to the front of the line?
A. Sure! If you need your order shipped out within one business day, you can select the "Expedite" box below any product (scroll down past the description). When you check out, be sure that the number of Expedite Cuts is equal to the number of items you've ordered. For example if you are ordering 3 different fabrics, there should be a 3 for Expedite. If you only want one item shipped separately, you need to place two separate orders. Orders placed before noon will ship same day! If we cannot Rush your order due to fabric availability, we will call you as soon as possible. For any questions, please don't hesitate to call us. 603-742-9273

Q. When I select "USPS Priority Mail 1-Day" does this mean you will ship today?
A. No. This refers to the length of time it will take to get to you once the order ships. If you need something to ship out right away, please select "Rush My Order" by checking the box below the description (see above).

Q. I don't see any FR, will this ever be available? (Fire Retardant fabrics)
A. This is not something we typically carry. If it is available you will see them listed on the left toolbar under FR. We hide this section when there is none available.

Q. Are there any other colors available?
A. Unfortunately we are limited to what is available from Polartec®. What you see on the website is what we've got!

Q. Can I use a conventional sewing machine to sew Polarfleece® and Polartec® fabrics?
A. Absolutely.

Q. Is sewing with fleece difficult?
A. No, it's different but not difficult. Once you've worked with Polarfleece® and Polartec® fabrics and gotten used to the thickness you will find it's actually easier to use than other fabrics in many instances. The fabric is very forgiving, you don't have to interface it, you don't have to line it, and you don't have to finish your edges. Once you start working with it, you will be addicted!

Q. Which side of the fabric is the right side?
A. To determine which side of the fabric is the right side, simply pull along the selvage, the selvage will roll to the right side of the fabric. On the Polartec® Windbloc® fabric, it is necessary to do a water test. Water will ball up and fall off from the right side of the fabric.

Q. Is there a nap to the fabric?
A. Yes, there is a nap to the fabric. Use nap layouts when cutting out your patterns.

Q. Do I need to pre-wash the fabric?
A. There is no need to pre-wash the fabric because the fabric won't shrink and the colors won't bleed. (Exception, Polartec® Power Stretch® fabrics will shrink up to 5% in length and 7% in width. Pre-washing is recommended.)

Q. How do I press the fabric?
A. Do not put a hot iron on Polartec® fleeces. If you feel pressing is necessary, finger pressing should be adequate. If a flatter seam is desired, topstitch the seam allowance in place.

Q. What kind of a needle would you recommend?
A. Universal Point Size 12/80 recommended for Polartec® Classic 100
Universal Point Size 14/90 recommended for Polartec® Classic 200
Stretch Needles Size 14/90 recommended for Polartec® Power Stretch®
Remember to change your needle often!

Q. How do I care for Polarfleece® and Polartec® fabrics?
A. Machine wash warm, tumble dry low. It's best to wash with like fabrics. Do not use bleach or fabric softeners. Do not dry clean.

Q. What's the difference between, Polartec® Classic 200 & Polartec® Classic 300 series?
A. The higher the number, the heavier and warmer the fabric.
In ounces the difference is:
100 - 9.5 oz per linear yard
200 - 12.5 oz per linear yard
300 - 16 oz per linear yard

Q. What's the difference between Polartec® fleeces and copycat fleeces?
A. Be careful of the imitations! Other manufacturers are producing fleeces that may appear to be similar to Polartec® fleeces, but they aren't. They will cut costs by:

  • producing a thinner fleece (less oz per linear yard)
  • producing a fleece that pills. Polyester is a strong fiber that doesn't break away from itself when it meets abrasion. The longer thread of other fleeces will pull into itself and pill.
  • producing a fleece that matts. It is the ability of the fibers to stand upright that provides Polartec® fleeces with it's thermal qualities.
  • producing a bad odor, even when new.

Q. Will the fabric pill?
A. Polartec® fabrics have been developed and tested to ensure that the fabric will not pill. Don’t believe us? Watch this!

Q. What is the Fiber content of the fabric?
A. Most fabrics that we sell are 100% Polyester. Any exceptions will be noted.

Q. How do I return my order?
A. We want you to be totally satisfied! If you don't find a reasonable solution here, please don't hesitate to call or email (603-742-9273). We accept returns of First Quality Polartec that has been ordered from MillYardage within 30 days of order ship date. We refund the original fabric price with any discounts that were applied and do not refund any shipping costs. We cannot accept returns of Second Quality. If you have concerns about Second Quality, please order First Quality.

To qualify for return, the First Quality Polartec must have been purchased from MillYardage within the last 30 days and in brand new condition without hair, dust, dirt, dander, odor or cut. If your order qualifies for return, first please contact us to obtain an RMA number by emailing [email protected]. Then, ship your order back to our warehouse along with a note inside with your RMA #, name, phone number, email address and mailing address along with how you would like us to handle your return (refund or exchange).

If you would like a refund, a refund will be issued within 5 business days of receipt of the package at our warehouse to the card or PayPal account the order was originally placed with. There will be a 10% restocking fee for all returns. If you would like to have the fabric exchanged, please let us know the style number and color number you would like to have and it will be shipped within 5 business days as well. If there is any delay beyond this, you will be notified. Please note that we are in a rural area with no Postal Service to our warehouse, so there can be delays when using our PO Box.
